Denver Taco Festival Recap
If you weren’t at the Denver Taco Festival last weekend you should re-assess your goals in life. It was one for the record book. Hundreds of tacos, dozens of food vendors and some dangerous tequila attracted swarms of eager foodies from all around.
Margaritas seemed to exceed tacos both in popularity and population and it showed in the enthusiasm of the patrons. The event was set up throughout many blocks of Denver, showing off the vibrance of the local culture. Not sure what was more entertaining, the luchadors (who knew that was real a thing?) or the announcer dissing them with every word he said. Then chihuahua races… Yeah that really happened. People raced their chihuahuas down a doggie drag strip. Predictably, there was a hot pepper eating competition. Unpredictably, there was a wet t-shirt contest (We were just as surprised.)
If you hung out for a while, you ran the risk of being swooped up by one of our Sweet Leaf staff on a tricycle and peddled to our massive tent. There we gave away boxes upon boxes of our merch and swag to our amazing friends who supported us on social media steadily all weekend long! We had impressive portion of attendees decked out in free gear, adorned with a sweet stash or spoiled with sweet shot glasses and discounts. We heard, “Wait… This is free? Why!?” more times than we could count. It was too much fun hanging out as a team, giving back and mingling with our amazing friends and supporters.
“This is how we’re livin’ today!”, yelled one of the owners of Sweet Leaf as he wheeled past on his chopper tricycle, dishing out high fives. Yeah, that’s just about how the 2015 Denver Taco Festival went. Follow on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to keep up with us!
