Don’t Leave Your D-Nail On

The fear of the hair straightener has been steadily on the rise since the 90s. When someone decided straight hair was the wave of the future, women spent time tirelessly uncurling their hair. Fathers, brothers and men everywhere live in fear of the hair straightener, the one known threat to preserving their beloved homes.

Within the past 5 years or so, a new threat has developed: the notorious d-nail. Apparently, people got “fed up” with traditional glass, quartz and titanium nails and torches. We have now entered the age of the digital or electronic nail. Unlike our basic “analog” nails, these new digital nails promise consistent temperature for optimizing your dab experience. The frightening trade off? You could potentially burn your house down.

Here are some quick tips that will keep your place fire-free!

1: D-nails Are Hot

Most straighteners only heat up to around 450 degrees F to put it into perspective. Many people have left their straighteners on accidentally and have come out unscathed. The risk for starting a fire is much higher when working with such a high temperature. These digital nails start around 400 degrees and can reach almost 1,000!

2: Appoint a Dab Buddy

Befriend a neighbor, preferably one who also dabs. When you are having an anxiety attack about whether you turned yours off or not – have no fear! Call your dab buddy and have them stop by to double-check your nail!

3: Checks & Balances

If you have roommates, establish a system where every roommate double-checks the d-nail before leaving the house. This will go a long way in preventing a small or large fire.
